Things to
do In Brittany
The North coast is rugged with the famous pink granite coast
around Perros Guirec and pretty little harbours like Binic just above St Brieuc
much like the coast of Cornwall
The South
coast is less harsh and more rolling like Devon

As
can be seen from this table the main mid spring to late summer months
are usually dry and hot, with the last few years in particular being
exceptionally hot. As such we have now added a portable air
conditioner in the upstairs of the main house so that a comfortable
nights sleep may be had.

Guern
- 3miles away Contains the local Bakery and a few bars. There
is also a payphone here should you need it.

Guemene-
sur -Scorff about 6 miles away- nearest small town with supermarket,
home of the Andouille sausage.

Pontivy about 10 miles away Chateau but not very interesting inside. Busy
market town with all services, shops, outdoor markets, supermarkets, swimming pool. Many
restaurants, pizzas, even a fabulous Chinese, the Hotel Martin
is usually good for
seafood

Pohl
Fetan a reconstructed, semi working, old Breton village about 10 to 15
miles southwest of the cottage (other side of Melrand)

St
Nicholas des Eaux nice village on river Blavet with boat trips, mini
golf and canoeing.
Also
nice walk if you go onto the railway line (seldom used if at all) and
through the tunnel then walk back alongside the river around the
horseshoe bend to your start point. Gothic chapel nearby.

Carnac
- Megaliths (smaller stones than Stonehenge but 100s of them)
- Beaches, for best beach go west to La Jeunnesse where there
are 3 nice coves with good safe sandy beaches and easy parking but they
do get packed in the afternoon.
- Shops in old town and new town (100 different ice cream
flavours in new town!) including some interesting curio shops. Carnac often has a different climate and if
grey inland, the weather in Carnac can be sunny.

Quiberon and peninsula beaches on west coast tend to be windy and used
for surfing/body boards. Boat trips to Belle Isle. Only one road in
and out so often busy.

Trinite sur Mer - pleasant little port for pleasure boats

Golfe
of Morbihan beaches, boat trips, old villages and more megaliths

Josselin Chateau - very impressive from the river below and well worth
a visit inside

North east of the
cottage is the Chateau de Querledan (never visited ), Bon Repos , a
pretty little village and Abbey and Le Lac de Guerladan - a man made lake popular for boating and water skiing
(valley was dammed so lake stretches for about 7.5 miles) with small
but usually crowded beach . Pedalos or motor boats for hire and mini
golf
